The New York Yankees have already given up the 2023 season of the Major Leagues and with this they have begun to make adjustments for next year, an example of this is the fact that this Monday they announced that they released third baseman Josh Donaldson.
The 37-year-old infielder was having one of the worst seasons of his MLB career, mainly due to the multiple injuries he has suffered, which allowed him to play just 33 of the 131 games the team has had this season.
A clear example of this is that he had been on the disabled list since mid-July due to a right calf strain.
The veteran who was voted AL MVP in 2015 while playing for the Toronto Blue Jays caught just 106 at-bats this season, batting .142 with 10 home runs, 15 RBI 13 runs scored and a .659 OPS.
It should be remembered that Donaldson arrived at the Yankees in March 2022, in the trade sent by Dominican Gary Sánchez and Colombian Gio Urshela to the Minnesota Twins. In that season he played in 132 games posting a .222 average with 15 home runs, 62 RBIs, 59 runs scored and an OPS of .682.
The Bronx Bombers are signing one of the worst seasons in recent years in which they are last in the American League East Division with a negative record of 63-68, 19 games from first place held by the Baltimore Orioles.
