In the midst of external questions about the lack of goals at the start of this season, striker Robert Lewandowski has thrown a dart at FC Barcelona, making known his disagreement with the lack of teammates who support him in his offensive work.
In an interview with ‘Eleven Sport’, the Polish attacker reflected on the team’s performance in the first games of the campaign and hinted that the team’s approach has not been what the fans expected, especially with the line-ups that they become limiting on offense.
Lewandowski has not had the expected start to the season. The Polish striker has only been able to score once in the 3 league games he has played and wanted to analyze his start in an interview with ‘Eleven Sport’.
“We are Barça and we are expected not only to win, but also to play good attacking football. Lately that hasn’t been how it should be, so we’ve been fighting to create more chances in matches,” he said.
“When we see Ferran (Torres) or Ansu (Fati) enter, two players who go forward, we create more chances. Sometimes we don’t play with enough attacking players, I don’t have support… so I look for the best solution for the team”, he underlined.
As for his state of form and reduction in the number of goals he contributes, Lewandowski was self-critical: “I have to maintain my level, get back on track. It will improve with each game. Every season is different and this season is very long. We have many matches and I think the important thing is not how you start, but how you end”, he analyzed.
“I think that with my experience, when I know my body, I look for the best solution not only for me, but also for the team. I realize that sometimes, if I’m between two centre-backs, it’s easier for the defenders. In many games I don’t have many chances to score. In the last two games I didn’t have many chances, I didn’t receive many balls, so sometimes I had to create my chances”, he pointed out.
Lastly, the 35-year-old veteran forward referred to the action in the game against Villarreal, when he reproached Ansu Fati for not having passed him a ball that could have been converted into a goal. “But after that situation he looked at me and thought ‘Maybe I could have made a better decision,'” he said.
