Approaching viewers through their own flavors is the focus of the Sony production “Aventura Gastronómica”, which in Ecuador in six 30-minute episodes will show the culinary richness, biodiversity and multiculturalism of this country.
This is a project announced last July, and production began in August 2023, and has the production team of the series “Argentine Gastronomic Adventure”.
Sony Pictures Television has successfully made this type of production in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, which has brought viewers closer to the flavors of food in the region.
Gastronomic Adventure is a docureality, where the flavors, the stories behind these emblematic dishes, the ritual of preparing and sharing them are the protagonists, explains Selina Nederhand, senior vice president and co-director of content strategy for Sony Pictures Entertainment in Latin America.
He confesses the enthusiasm generated by expanding this format in the region, in this case in Ecuador, since it is a way of approaching viewers with their own flavors.
In Ecuador, the Gastronomic Adventure is produced by Sony Channel and the international audiovisual company Open Kimono, who also produce the Argentine Gastronomic Adventure.
For his part, Luis Sabal, senior vice president and joint director in charge of advertising sales and channel distribution for Sony Pictures Entertainment in Latin America, says that Sony is excited about the production.
“We are sure that this will be a new success to add to this successful format in which we will continue working to provide organic opportunities to various brands to be part of this adventure full of flavors,” he adds.
An adventure full of flavors in Ecuador
The Sony production in Ecuador will be led by Ecuadorian chef Carolina Sánchez, winner of a Michelin star, who will explore the flavors and dishes of five provinces: Manabí, Pichincha, Azuay, Santa Elena and Guayas.
Ecuador Gastronomic Adventure will tour five provinces to present renowned local chefs, such as: Rodrigo Pacheco, owner of the Bocavaldivia restaurant located south of Manabí and Luis Maldonado, owner of Tributo, considered one of the best steakhouses in the world, reveals the portal Primicias.
Also to other renowned chefs from Ecuador such as: Gabriela Cepeda, from La Central Deli Shop in Guayaquil; Juan José Morán, from Brisa in Olón; Daniel Contreras, from Dos Sucres, in Cuenca and Valentina Álvarez, an authority on Manabitan gastronomy.
