The president of La Liga of Spain, Javier Tebas, once again attacked the suspended president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales after the controversy generated by the kiss that the latter gave to the soccer player Jenni Hermoso in the award ceremony of the Women’s Soccer World Cup in Australia and New Zealand 2023, where the Spanish team won the final against England.
Tebas assured that Luis Rubiales “not only undermined Jenni’s dignity with his attitude, but also that of Spain.”
In a message posted on the social network X (formerly Twitter), Tebas wrote that “it is unworthy to coerce the National Team players and focus on them or on their hot reaction. They are not guilty of the image of Spain given by Rubiales”.
Tebas assured that the controversy “is not a question of left or right”, he states that “no opportunism or political hypocrisy justifies that the image of Spain has been represented by a madman touching his genitals, forcing kisses, carrying players like a sack and touching the Queen inappropriately at such an important moment.”
Last Friday, August 25, Rubiales “added more fuel to the fire” by not resigning from his position in the RFEF General Assembly, a situation that motivated FIFA to suspend him from all soccer-related activities for 90 days.
Rubiales remains in the eye of the hurricane after kissing Jenni Hermoso on the mouth at the 2023 Women’s Soccer World Cup award ceremony in Australia and New Zealand, where the Spanish team managed to lift the cup after beating the England team by the slightest difference in the final of the tournament.
