While a fourth stimulus check from the federal government remains on the table, some local governments have taken steps to support their citizens with some economic relief and help them deal with inflation.
There are several states that are taking surplus budget funds to send stimulus checks to their citizens, such as Montana, Alaska, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Washington and New Mexico.
Mountain
For example, in the state of Montana, the government announced the sending of stimulus checks, which began to reach beneficiaries at the beginning of July, and will continue this month of August, which is about to end.
Although the delivery will be extended until December 31 of this year, according to the Division of Income and Business Taxes.
These refunds are on individual income taxes paid in the 2021 tax year.
The $1,250 refund is for single, head of household, or married individuals who filed separately.
While for those married who have filed a joint return, the stimulus check is $2,500 dollars or the amount on line 20, whichever is less.
Another refund that the Montana government is giving is for property taxes, whose stimulus check is up to $675. Fiscal years 2022 and 2023 are being taken into account.
People who are eligible do not have to make any claims, as the state will send the stimulus check to people who qualify.
Massachusetts
The state of Massachusetts began sending stimulus checks to its citizens from November 1, 2022 to support them in facing the economic situation that the country is going through.
Eligible taxpayers are those who filed their state tax return. The refund was 14% of your 2021 tax liability.
But those who haven’t done it yet still have a chance to receive the stimulus check if they catch up on state taxes.
Refunds are sent one month after the application is submitted.
Other states that are also sending stimulus checks are: Alaska, Minnesota, Washington and New Mexico.
