Pennsylvania authorities are searching for a convicted murderer who escaped from a Chester County jail Thursday morning, who was sentenced to life in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death in 2021.

Danelo Cavalcante, 34, escaped from prison around 8:50 a.m. and was last seen on a nearby road around 9:40 a.m., according to Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan. , who warned that Cavalcante is “extremely dangerous” and that “his depravity knows no bounds.”

“If you are already involved in murder in broad daylight in front of your two children, nothing will stop you from doing something more heinous,” Ryan said at a news conference.

Cavalcante was found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend, who was the mother of two, in front of them in a public parking lot in 2021. At the time, he was also wanted for another murder that occurred in Brazil in 2017, Ryan added.

Last week, Cavalcante, who is described as 5-foot-1, 120 pounds with curly black hair and brown eyes, Ryan said.

How Cavalcante managed to escape is unknown while the incident is being investigated, said Howard Holland, acting director of the Chester County Jail.

Huge reward for the whereabouts of Cavalcante

The search for Cavalcante is supported by several law enforcement agencies, including the Pennsylvania State Police, as well as the US Marshals Service. A $10,000 reward was offered for information leading to his capture.

Ryan added that Cavalcante has family and friends in the Phoenixville area of ​​Chester County and there is a chance he could get help to escape. He warned that anyone who collaborates with Cavalcante will be prosecuted.

Cavalcante was seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray shorts, and white sneakers.
