The Saudi Arabian soccer league is the second that has spent the most on transfers and intends to continue looking for players until September 7

Saudi Arabia’s professional soccer league became the second league that has invested the most in transfers this year, behind only the English Premier League. According to a report in the newspaper Marca, the Saudi Pro League has spent some 847 million euros, almost $913 million dollars.

The English Premier remains in first place by far since it has invested some 2,500 million euros in transfers, some $2,694 million dollars. The Saudis rank ahead of Italy’s Serie A ($906 million), Ligue 1 ($849 million) and the Bundesliga ($785 million).

In this sense, an authorized source from the Saudi Pro League told Marca that the league still intended to continue signing until September 7 despite the fact that the market in Europe ends this Friday at midnight.

“If there is any interesting option, we are not going to stop in September. FIFA allows us to do so and we are within the market rules, so we are not going to stop,” the Saudi soccer representative told the Spanish outlet.

Some of the biggest signings in the Saudi League to date have been Brazilian Neymar Jr. ($64 million, Al Hilal), or Serbian Milinkovic-Savic ($53 million, Al Hilal); Fabinho ($45 million, Al Ittihad); Ruben Neves ($43 million, Al Hilal).
