The Pole Robert Lewandowski spoke out against the arbitration of La Liga in Spain and generated controversy in the press in that country. In an interview with the Matchyki.pl and Eleven Sports media, the Polish striker launched that the Spanish first division “does not want to promote attacking play.”
After having played 12 seasons in the Bundesliga, the Pole has had to adapt to a completely different league where apparently the only thing he hasn’t liked has been the referees.
“The League does not want to promote the attacking game. There are situations in which sometimes they allow you so many things in defense, and if I make a foul, there is immediately a different interpretation and preferably a yellow card so that there are no problems”, declared the captain of the Poland team.
“This is strange to me because the referees must know that there is a team that does not want to play football, it throws itself, pretends, provokes, commits fouls (…) La Liga is not offensive or attractive. The Spanish referees kill the league”, sentenced the striker.
In his first year as a Barça player, Lewandowski played 46 games, scored 32 goals and distributed eight assists to win last season’s top scorer award.
