The legend of St. Louis Cardinals in the Major Leagues, Albert Pujols, married this Saturday with Nicole Fernández, daughter of the former president of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernández.
The announcement was made on their social networks by the Cardinals themselves this Sunday, who congratulated Pujols publicly and published photos of the intimate ceremony.
“St. Louis Cardinals legend and future Baseball Hall of Famer Albert Pujols and Nicole Fernández marry. Congratulations Albert,” the Cardinals said.
In total, three photos accompany the text, one of them walking towards the altar and others where the happy couple kisses and poses for the cameras.
Others who congratulated and wished the best for the designated and infielder were former baseball players Robinson Canó and Carlos Peña.
In this way, Fernández and Pujols are married six months after making their courtship official, in a relationship that came almost immediately after his divorce with his first wife Deidre Pujols.
The relationship culminated in 2022 and the controversy reached weeks ago when the media reported that Pujols had to pay a million-dollar amount for the divorce, both for Deidre and for the support of the children they had together.
Pujols, the 2001 Rookie of the Year and three-time National League MVP Award winner, hit 703 home runs, drove in 2,218 runs, scored 1,914 and hit 3,384 hits during a 22-year major league career.
He is considered one of the most complete hitters in American professional baseball history.
