The security cameras have been the only clues that have allowed us to follow the trail of Cavalcante, 34 years old. The prosecution released some images in which the killer is seen walking through Pocopson Township, a mile and a half from the prison, around 12:30 am on Saturday. His appearance has not changed since his escape, as he was wearing a white T-shirt, black pants, and a backpack.

Also, another security camera caught him an hour later in the 1800 block of Lenape Road, walking through the backyard of a house with something in his hands. Authorities also indicated that there was an attempted robbery in the area that same night, without specifying the suspect.

According to authorities, Cavalcante took advantage of a carelessness by prison staff while awaiting transfer to another state prison to flee. The incident is being investigated by the Chester County District Attorney’s office, which has requested public cooperation in finding the whereabouts of the fugitive.

District Attorney Deb Ryan issued a statement warning that Cavalcante is “an extremely dangerous man” and that a $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his capture. Similarly, she asked area residents to stay home, lock their vehicles and check their surveillance cameras.

Cavalcante is not only wanted in the United States, but also in his native Brazil, where he is accused of another murder.

According to Brazilian police, Cavalcante fatally shot a man in 2019 after an argument in a bar. He then fled to the United States, where he met his ex-girlfriend, whom he murdered in February 2022 after she left him.

Authorities urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911 immediately and not approach him in any way.
