Mireia Elías, nutritionist at the European Medical Institute for Obesity (IMEO), explains when we have the “all inclusive”, this can affect our eating routine and we can fall into excesses of food that we don’t really need.

In order not to fall into anxiety or gluttony, the doctor offers some recommendations that can guide us to a selection of foods that help us not to fall into excesses.

  • Although there is no limit, it is important to eat all five meals, respect the portions, that is, eat to be satisfied and avoid eating between meals during the day.
  • Take time to enjoy food, chew each bite long enough, and eat slowly at main meals. A recommendation from nutritionists is to place the amount we usually eat daily in one or two plates.
  • Avoid getting up several times to serve smaller amounts, since in this way we lose track of what we eat in total.
  • Impulsively serving food can lead us to choose options with more sugars and fats.
  • Choose foods that are healthier, because by consuming more nutrients and proteins we guarantee that you will be satisfied for longer.
  • Include in meals: vegetables, avoiding those that are fried or battered; proteins such as meat, fish or eggs and legumes, such as hummus.
  • Choose low-calorie drinks or that are “zero sugar”, while cocktails can be left for specific times during the day.

There are no prohibited foods

For her part, Estefanía Ramo López, a graduate in Nutrition and Dietetics, and a graduate in Food Technology, explains that people generally do not choose the type, quantity and quality of food in each food option well.

On the contrary, excessive food is served with too much fat, sweets and alcohol because of the open bar.

The specialist remembers that although there are no prohibited foods, there are some less healthy foods that we should avoid eating in excess can affect health.

At breakfast, he recommends avoiding excesses in foods rich in fat such as fried eggs, bacon, fried sausages, among others. As well as foods rich in refined flour such as croissants, Neapolitans, palmeritas with or without chocolate and jams.

Sugary and high-fat drinks such as milk should also be consumed in moderation, and foods with large amounts of sugar should also be consumed in moderation.
