The Mexican boxer Canelo Álvarez pointed out this Sunday that although he is repeatedly linked to Terence Crawford due to the similar record that both have maintained as a professional, he still distances himself by ensuring that their resumes are not comparable.
In recent statements, Canelo Álvarez said that he has no more than respect for Crawford but that he has been in the public eye for his recent fight in which he beat Errol Spence Jr. and with which he achieved his 40-0 record last year. July 29.
“As I always said, I respect Terence Crawford but my resume is better. He is a very talented fighter but he just won a great fight, ”said El Tapatío about it.
Canelo Álvarez later downplayed Crawford’s victory over Spence, indicating that his immaculate record is because he has never fought against great boxers like Errol himself in his career.
“If you look at his record, he just beat a good fighter like Errol Spence. Other than that, I don’t think he’s beaten other great fighters,” he added.
Canelo Álvarez’s reference to Crawford due to his history is due to the fact that the native of Guadalajara in his career has accumulated fights against boxing highlights such as Floyd Mayweather, Dimitri Bivol, Julio César Chávez Jr. Miguel Cotto or Gennady Golovkin, which has left him with a historical record of 59 wins and two draws.
When asked about a future fight with Crawford himself, Canelo limited himself to saying that it will be seen.
Finally, he referred to his next rival Jermell Charlo, whom he will face next Saturday, September 30 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Jermell Charlo is a great fighter, he is a talented fighter and he is undisputed in his weight class. It’s going to be a good fight, so I’m happy to be in these kinds of fights, in the big fights. The match is almost here, so I’m excited. I’m excited because I feel great”, closed Canelo Álvarez.
