A recent poll conducted by The Wall Street Journal revealed that a majority of American voters consider President Joe Biden “too old to run for president.” This was reported by the news portal The Hill.
According to the survey results, 73% of registered voters think that the statement that Biden is “too old” to run for the US presidency describes him “very well” or “fairly well”.
Only 22% of those surveyed expressed their disagreement with this statement.
The survey was carried out between August 24 and 30 of this year, and it was carried out among 1,200 registered voters, but the results mentioned come from the responses of 750 voters with a margin of error of 3.6 percent.
Former President Trump, who is just three years younger, at 77, scored more favorably when respondents were asked the same question, with 47% of respondents indicating Trump’s age as an issue.
According to The Hill, one of Biden’s main concerns in the 2024 presidential race is his age. At 80 today, he would be 86 at the end of his next term if he is re-elected.
In fact, information reviewed by CNN en Español indicates that President Joe Biden assured that he “seriously evaluated” his own age when thinking about his run for re-election.
Biden asserted that “(American voters) are going to watch a race, and they are going to judge whether or not I have what it takes. I respect that they look at (age) with a magnifying glass. I also took a hard look at it before deciding to apply, and I feel good, I’m excited about the prospects.” These statements were offered by Biden at a press conference in April, together with the president of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, at the White House, according to CNN en Español.
Biden also addressed his age Monday morning at a Labor Day event in Philadelphia, saying he brings wisdom to office.
“The only thing that comes with age is a little wisdom. I’ve been doing this longer than anyone, and you know what? I will continue to do so with your help.”
Previous polls have found that voters consistently show concerns about the age of the incumbent president, according to The Hill.
