One of the aces of the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation, the Mexican Julio Urías, was arrested this Sunday around midnight in Los Angeles on charges of domestic violence.

The first report that Urías was in prison was made by TMZ Sports, which initially reported that Urías spent Sunday night through Monday behind bars, although details of the detention are scant.

Apparently, the left-handed man was arrested near the center of the Californian city and, according to reports, entered the cells of the Los Angeles Police around 1:00 am, where he remained until dawn when the environment canceled a $ 50,000 bail dollars to the county.

The police review to which the outlet had access also ensures that Urías faces strong charges for domestic violence, in an action that could be a repeat of the events of May in 2019.

On that occasion, Urías allegedly pushed a woman during an argument in a Beverly Hills shopping center, for which he was also arrested for domestic violence.

However, the charges were dismissed because the alleged victim did not process the complaint and said that she had “fallen” by herself.

Although he did not receive a criminal sentence on that occasion, Major League Baseball decided to suspend him 20 games for violating its strict policies on domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.

Dodgers already spoke out about the Urías case

On the controversy, the Dodgers published a tweet in which they informed that they are aware of the situation.

“We are aware of the incident involving Julio Urías. While we try to get all the facts, he won’t be traveling with the team (to Miami for the series against the Marlins). The organization has no further comment at this time,” the team wrote.

The Hispanic will now have to face the charges before the courts away from the playing fields, which could condition his renewal situation for the 2024 MLB season, where he will become a free agent.
