An intruder violated security measures, jumped over the fence and ran towards a plane in an event recorded at the Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) in Mexico City.
The incident unfolded when the individual, identified as César “N”, bypassed airport security and entered restricted areas. This intrusion provoked a frantic response from multiple authorities, including personnel from the Navy, Private Security, supervision and the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC).
When apprehended, César “N” claimed to be a minor and suggested that he may have been under the influence of psychotropic substances.
In an official statement, the AICM clarified that the individual would be handed over to the corresponding authorities, ensuring the preservation of his human rights.
The statement further emphasized that despite the violation, there were no major incidents at the airport.
The journalist of the Mexican outlet El Financiero, Lourdes Mendoza, shared a video of the arrest on social media platforms. The footage captures the intruder perched on the airframe, with security personnel facilitating his descent via a ladder.
“It’s scary, this could have dead one day at @AICM_mx. Flight VOI876 of @viajaVolaris about to take off, a homeless man was where the landing gear tires are kept!!!”, wrote the journalist.
The incident sparked an avalanche of reactions on social media. While many praised the decisive actions of security personnel and vigilantes who alerted the authorities, others called for preventive measures to be strengthened.
