A dozen alleged gang members from the Bronx were arrested yesterday on suspicion of committing several crimes in that borough and also in Manhattan and Queens.

The victims include rival gang members, taxi drivers, pedestrians, elderly people and even a parole officer whose gun was stolen and later used in a robbery, authorities announced.

The 12 members of the “5zzly Crew,” all between the ages of 16 and 22, were charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, robberies, attacks on the elderly, shootings and a host of other charges in the crime spree dating back to February. of 2021, said Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark. “These defendants terrorized the people of the Bronx, carrying out these shootings and robberies in broad daylight, sending Bronxites running for cover,” said Prosecutor Clark.

In one of the cases, a child and his mother were captured near a shooting. “Thank God they weren’t hit,” Clark said. “But until when are those children going to be afraid? The trauma we know you are experiencing will likely last forever. “We cannot allow this to continue.”

The 110-count indictment against members of the “Blood Hound Brims” includes possession of weapons and the murder of Ariel Santos (32), shot inside his parked Mercedes-Benz by two men who got out of a car and shot him at point-blank range in June 2021.

During the course of the extensive investigation, NYPD Deputy Chief Jason Savino said authorities recovered several weapons, including one stolen from a probation officer. “They come from Pennsylvania, Virginia… That’s where our guns mainly come from.”

The names of those arrested were not released. All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
