Real Madrid winger Vinícius Jr. will return to a Brazilian squad with his team after he was one of the members of the list for the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup where the Canarinha will face the teams of Uruguay and Venezuela.
Although his recovery was originally scheduled to last about six weeks after being injured with a muscle tear at the end of August, Vinícius Jr. will be part of his national team on October 12 and 17.
The presence of the skilled winger on the list released by strategist Fernando Diniz surprised everyone because he arrives even though he has not seen minutes in Real Madrid’s last games.
However, Diniz himself at a press conference highlighted the figure of Vinícius Jr. as “a great protagonist of world football” and at no time did he mention anything regarding the condition suffered by the star.
Vinícius will share the leading role in the attack with Neymar, from the Saudi Al-Hilal, who the coach said he hopes will still “write the most beautiful pages in the history of football.”
One of the few new features in the squad is the inclusion of midfielder Gerson, a Flamengo player, whom the coach praised for his perseverance.
Aside from Gerson, Diniz kept last month’s squad practically intact with the aim of gaining “consistency.”
“With fewer player changes, there is a greater possibility that understanding will advance more quickly,” he said.
No great Brazilian promises appear on the squad list, such as forwards Endrick, from Palmeiras and already acquired by Real Madrid, and Vítor Roque, from Athletico Paranaense and also negotiated with Barcelona.
