The city of Los Angeles, in California, on the west coast of the United States, could be left without experiencing the passion of the 2026 Soccer World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada because the owners of the stadium have not yet reached an agreement on various commercial aspects.

According to The Athletic, Koenke Sports Entertainment (KSE), the company that owns the venue located in Inglewood, California, has not been able to agree with the distribution of the profits that the host cities of the world’s largest event will obtain.

The owners of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers stadium would not agree to lend the venue to be managed by FIFA during the 2026 World Cup.

In fact, according to the sports media, KSE demanded more transparency about the return of the first payments that the conglomerate would have to make to host the World Cup, since it had been thought that this return on investment would be made through agreements such as the sponsorships, ticket sales, etc.

According to The Athletic, KSE and FIFA will renegotiate the terms of the contract for SoFi Stadium to be included as a venue for the 2026 World Cup, since Los Angeles is a fairly important city in terms of entry to the games. .

SoFi Stadium, home of the Final of the last 2023 Gold Cup, has a capacity of more than 80,000 spectators. On the other hand, Los Angeles (Rose Bowl) hosted the 1994 World Cup in the United States.
