An armed group, identified as members of the Sinaloa cartel, freed the communication routes in the passage from the town of La Trinitaria to the municipality of Frontera Comalapa, on the Pan-American highway of Chiapas, being received by applause and ovations from the residents. .

The residents of the area gathered on the sides of the road to applaud and thank the armed group, which moved in armored trucks, in which they carried long weapons and military-type clothing, in addition to wearing bulletproof vests.

The videos went viral on social networks, highlighting the passage of the cartel, which disputes control of the territory with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The blockades had been installed by the Maíz foundation (acronym for left hand), which is an ally of the CJNG, which carried out vehicle inspections at the entrances and exits of the municipal seat from Frontera Comalapa to Comitán and from Comalapa to Motozintla, in Chiapas.

These blockades occurred in demonstrations in which they demanded justice for the kidnapping and subsequent death of Berni Flor, a high school teacher murdered on September 12. For these blockades, they occupied businessmen’s trucks and public transportation, where they hung narcomantas, while they asked for security and the dismissal of a high-command general of the Mexican Army.

In addition to the release of the blockades, residents reported a confrontation early Saturday morning on the limits of the Motozintla-Mazapa municipality of Madero, which left the municipality of Frontera Comalapa without electricity and incommunicado.

Public transportation services from Frontera Comalapa to Comitán and from Comalapa to Motozintla were suspended due to insecurity and the different road blockades that persist in the area.

However, some checkpoints are still maintained, especially in Frontera Comalapa and Mazapa de Madero, and strict control is established for those who do not belong to these criminal alliances.

The border region and Sierra Madre of Chiapas has been living under the tension, violence and terror generated by the dispute between the CJNG and Sinaloa cartels for two years, leaving a wave of disappearances, kidnappings, dispossessions and murders, in addition to forced displacements and recruitments.
