The historic Mexican soccer player and coach, Hugo Sánchez, recently visited the camp where boxer Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is training for the fight he will play this September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas against the American Jermell Charlo ; In this meeting he spoke with the man from Guadalajara about his preparation and various topics that have marked his career.

After this, Sánchez spoke with journalist Carlos Aguilar from TUDN to learn a little about his perception of the fight and Canelo’s career in general, whom he considered one of the most important figures in the sports scheme of the North American nation due to the large number of achievements and titles that he has achieved in all his years in the ring.

“I define him as a sports leader, an admirable boxer and we lack idols in Mexico, we must give him the magnitude that he has. It is a special feeling for me, I am used to having interviews done with me and now that I do programs with personalities, with Saúl it has been a pleasant experience. Many times we do not know that side and with Saúl it is an admiration for the consistency that he has had in his career and that is very difficult,” said the former Real Madrid player from Spain.

Hugo Sánchez also showed his total admiration for the strong training that Álvarez is doing to face his fight against Jermell Chalo with the aim of defending his undisputed super middleweight title.

“The admiration I have is as a Mexican, he brings together all the characteristics of a boxer and an athlete that Mexico has always had. At this moment he is one of the athletes who moves us, who we wish for success, he is giving us a lot of joy. A lot of admiration because as a child and young man he suffered, he did difficult jobs, but perseverance got him through,” he highlighted.

“The administration of his economy says a lot about his intelligence, it has a lot of merit because without having any career he has the mental capacity to know how to manage his money,” concluded the historic player of the Mexican team.
