A Jack in the Box employee shot a family she was serving in the drive-thru with a firearm. Apparently it was all due to an argument because fries were missing from the order.
Anthony Ramos and his family placed a food order at a Jack in the Box location near Bush Intercontinental Airport in March 2021.
Randall Kallinen, the family’s attorney, said Ramos is from Florida but was in Houston for work.
The man picked up his pregnant wife and six-year-old daughter at the airport and they stopped at the restaurant to buy food.
He was in the driver’s seat, his wife in the front passenger seat and his daughter in the back seat.
The family had paid $12.99 for their food order, but had not received some curly fries they had ordered, sparking an argument with an employee.
In a video that was recently made public, the restaurant worker who served the family, named Alonniea Fantasia Ford, appears somewhat upset with Ramos.
At one point during the argument, the worker pulls out a gun and then shoots the family at least twice.
“Jack-in-the-Box needs to run background checks on employees so they don’t expose their customers to someone who would try to kill them,” the attorney said, according to ABC 13.
Although the family filed the lawsuit in 2022, Kallinen recently received the video after requesting it from the restaurant.
The lawsuit claims that Jack in the Box was negligent for failing to keep customers safe.
The affected family is seeking a payment of $250,000 in damages.
The Jack in the Box employee was charged with deadly conduct.
