The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, once again spoke publicly about the controversies that have occurred in Spanish football recently, among them, the ‘Negreira Case’ that accused FC Barcelona of having bought referees to benefit from it for several years.

This case was investigated by the sports and judicial authorities of Spain and finally the culé team came out well, however, there was speculation that relegation could be one of the punishments if the club’s guilt was proven, to which Tebas He stated that he would not have hesitated to carry out the descent if the magistrate so decided.

“If the judge says so… That is decided by a magistrate as happened with Elche a few years ago. The only capacity I have is to report certain events, and I would have reported them. The level of sanctioning does not correspond to me,” expressed the LaLiga president.

“The road is long, but there are behaviors that have no explanation. We already saw that in the Osasuna case its directors were convicted, but the club was not. I can’t anticipate that much. It is being investigated by criminal means, we are also being active. The club can be condemned, but the directors can be acquitted,” he explained.

LaLiga, the championship that spends the least money on transfers

On the other hand, Tebas was asked about how little Spanish clubs spent on signings this summer, compared to clubs in other leagues that spent astronomical amounts on few players.

“In the Premier I consider that money has been wasted. I don’t want to give an example of players, but maybe they have been overrated. The only one we can compare ourselves to is the Bundesliga because we are both sustainable,” he indicated.

“Barça is penalizing us there because of its economic situation. It is the first time that they have made an extraordinary signing in terms of money, which is Kane. The Premier has lost more than 5,000 million dollars in five years and we haven’t even five,” he pointed out.
