Gabriel J. Turner, a 32-year-old woman, died in a freak accident after falling from a moving crane on a highway in upstate New York.
The New York State Police (NYSP) is investigating the case in which the victim apparently jumped from the vehicle. At 8:15 pm on September 18, officers responded to eastbound I-90 near the I-290 interchange in the city of Amherst, Erie County. Upon arrival, they found Turner, a resident of Snyder, a town located 11 miles north of Buffalo, dead.
The preliminary investigation determined that Turner was a passenger in a 2011 Ford F550 tow truck operated by a 34-year-old Buffalo resident. The woman fell from the vehicle on the passenger side while the vehicle was moving, he said. NewYorkUpstate.com.
State Trooper James Ocallaghan said the unidentified driver and the victim knew each other, he said. NBC News. “Sometimes the car can have more than one person; we can get a third objective view. In this case, that is not the case,” as there were no other passengers on board.
Investigators were trying to determine if there was a domestic or relationship problem, mental illness or if this incident was criminal. The autopsy was pending. State Police ask that anyone with information about this incident contact them at 585-344-6200.
