The two young Las Vegas criminals accused of fatally running over a retired police officer and then fleeing will remain in custody until their next hearings, even though one boasted to officers that he would be out of prison in a few days.

Identified as Jesús Ayala, 18, and Jzamir Keys, 16, charged with murder in the death of Andreas Probst, 64, they were arraigned in two different court hearings on Tuesday.

Probst was riding his bicycle on August 14 when a vehicle approached from behind and collided with him. At that time, authorities identified Ayala, who was 17 at the time, as the driver of the car.

Upon his arrest, Ayala allegedly told police he would be out of jail in just 30 days with a measly “slap on the wrist,” according to his arrest report.

“Do you think this shitty juvenile is going to do some shit? I’ll leave in 30 days. I bet you,” according to an arrest report, Ayala said.

After being told he could possibly be placed in “adult prison” due to the severity of his crimes, Ayala allegedly said, “It’s just a damn hit-and-run. “Slap on the wrist.”

The arrest report explains that the interaction was captured on a body camera, according to the New York Post.

Video of the fatal crash apparently filmed by Keys shows the hit-and-run was deliberate, officials said.

In a Sept. 14 interview with a school resource officer, Keys allegedly said he knew he was being questioned because he “killed that guy on the bike.” The teen later gave police the video he had captured of the incident.

The two suspects are suspected of using different stolen vehicles in a series of incidents prior to Probst’s homicide.

Ayala faces additional charges including failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a burglary tool.

The Hispanic opted for the right to an expedited preliminary hearing, which is scheduled for October 10.

On the other hand, Keys, who recorded the video, asked to extend the date of her preliminary hearing until November and it was set for the 8th of that month.

Bail will be discussed in upcoming presentations for each of the youth. However, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said he will request bail be denied for Ayala and Keys.
