Spanish Repertory premieres “Farándula”

Repertorio Español (138 East 27th Street) premieres this Thursday, September 28, with limited presentations until this Sunday, October 1, the play “Farándula”, written and directed by the Cuban Jazz Vilá. The comedy, inspired by a personal experience of its author and director, has become a sociocultural phenomenon that, after 220 performances, continues to conquer viewers inside and outside of Cuba. It is a modern work but structured on a classic dramaturgy of romantic entanglements, which serve as an excuse to address universal themes such as deception, migration, addictions and sexuality. Fabulous Cadillacs in concert

New York premiere of “Bernarda”

Havanafama brings the play “Bernarda” to the stage in New York for just one weekend, this September 29 and 30. A version of the classic work of the Spanish writer and poet, Federico García Lorca, “The House of Bernarda Alba” with an adaptation and direction by Juan Roca, “Bernarda” recreates the time when women were victims of Spanish society, which limited from all types of development and choice. Lincoln Center Concert Series GO! presents this Friday, September 29, the Cuban group Son Del Monte, directed by maestro Timbalero, Manuel Rivera, formerly of the Yambu Orchestra and Sonsublime.
