A lottery player from the state of Michigan hit the jackpot and won $200,000, but the man found out that he had obtained his new fortune thanks to a text message he received from a friend.
The 45-year-old winner from Oakland County said he received a text message from a friend saying he had won a grand prize of $200,000 in the game of Club Keno.
The player purchased his winning ticket at the County Fair Market store on Dequindre Road in the city of Warren.
The winner’s friend found out that someone who had bought the ticket at this store had won the grand prize.
“I got a text message from a friend asking me if I had won a lot playing Club Keno because he saw that he had won a $200,000 prize at the store where I normally buy my tickets,” the man said.
“I had just bought a Club Keno ticket at that store, so I took it out of my pocket and scanned it into the lottery app (on my cell phone),” he added.
The lottery player discovered that he had been the big winner of $200,000, as he matched eight of the 20 Club Keno numbers in the September 5 drawing.
“When the winning amount appeared on the screen, all I could think was, ‘Wow, it really was me!’ I have never won a prize as big as this, so it was pretty incredible,” said the lucky winner.
The man said he plans to use his new fortune to start a business.
