Edwin Castro, the Hispanic identified as the winner of the $2 billion Powerball, was caught at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), California, this Thursday accompanied by a woman.
The images released by The New York Post were taken on Thursday.
Castro, who faces a lawsuit for the alleged theft of the winning ticket for the largest sum drawn in the history of the lottery in the United States, carries a backpack as does his companion, a thin blonde.
They both look smiling. As can be seen in the images, Castro changed his hair style and now wears long black and white braids.
Castro was wearing a black T-shirt and sweatshirt with white Nike sneakers.
The 31-year-old Hispanic was announced on February 14 as the winner of the jackpot corresponding to the November 8 drawing.
A little over a week later, José Rivera filed a lawsuit alleging that his former landlord Urachi F. Romero illegally appropriated the ticket that Castro ended up collecting.
The relationship between the parties and how exactly the ticket passed from one hand to another is not specified in the document.
Precisely, this Friday a hearing is supposed to be held in the Alhambra Court as part of the case.
Financial experts have criticized the investments Castro has made less than a year after claiming the money and in the midst of a lawsuit that could leave him without some of the money if the judge rules against him.
The information reported in local and national media indicates that Castro has acquired three mansions, in addition to a white “vintage” style Porsche 911.
