The former Spanish footballer and president of the Kings League, Gerard Piqué, received important news that will affect his team FC Andorra, one of the most important sports organizations in that nation; The club will have to look for a new stadium for next season after being removed from its home by the Government itself.

What happens is that the Government of Andorra issued a statement detailing that the National Stadium will not be able to be the home of Gerard Piqué’s club for the 2024-2025 season; This is because the collaboration agreement they agreed upon and which remained in force until June 2024 will not be renewed, as reported by OK Diario.

Alain Cabanes, Secretary of Sports and Youth of the Government of Andorra, explained that the intention of the aforementioned State is to be able to improve and adapt the National Stadium to other sports; For this reason, a change of grass and other improvements will be carried out so that “it will be a much more versatile stadium and so that many more sports can use it.”

“FC Andorra will have to look for a field because the Estadi Nacional, by changing the grass, will not adapt to the conditions requested by LaLiga. When the competition ends in June 2024, the grass will begin to be changed so that it will be a much more versatile stadium and that many more sports can use it,” Cabanes said in his statements when leaving aside the option of watching the game play again. to Piqué’s team in said field.

“It cannot be renewed because a date was set and the Rugby Federation made the effort to move to Encamp according to certain conditions, and I think that the parts of the agreement must be fully respected and the date of June 2024 cannot be postponed,” the sports secretary added forcefully to imply that there is no intention of a new agreement with FC Andorra.

The Minister of Culture and Sports, Mónica Bonell, also spoke about this decision and highlighted that they are already looking for a new stadium or the construction of one in order to help Piqué’s organization to have a space in which they can play.

“There was an agreement signed that ended in June and we know that they are looking at the viability of building a new stadium. Until they have it, they are the ones who have to look for an alternative field to Andorra or outside,” he highlighted.
