Boston Celtics continue to move their pieces before starting the new NBA season and this Sunday they sealed another agreement to reinforce their squad, with the arrival of Jrue Holliday from the Portland Trail Blazers.
Holliday’s journey in Portland only lasted a couple of days after he arrived in a three-way trade that sent Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks and now the Celtics took over his services to reinforce a squad that seemed unbeatable.
In the agreement between the Massachusetts board and Portland, the arrival of the point guard and shooting guard was established in exchange for the center Robert Williams III and the shooting guard Malcolm Brogdon, all along with two first-round draft picks, one choice from the Golden State Warriors and another of Portland by 2029.
Holiday averaged a total of 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, numbers he hopes to replicate with those established at TD Garden.
The new agreement becomes the second that the Celtics have made for next season, the first being the offseason incorporation of the Latvian Kristaps Porzinguis.
With them, Boston’s roster will bring together several stars such as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who signed the most expensive contract extension in NBA history weeks ago, among others.
The Celtics, who at the end of the previous season lost in the Conference finals against the Miami Heat, will seek from next October 24 a title that has been elusive since 2008 when they beat their biggest rivals the Los Angeles Lakers in six games. for the 17th title of its history.
