Former American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. had no choice but to praise the work of his colleague, the Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, after the latter defeated Jermell Charlo by unanimous decision.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. was a witness in the fight and praised the Mexican boxer after the great exhibition he gave this Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
“I respect Canelo. He is a great champion and he has done a great job tonight,” Mayweather said in the post-fight press conference, collected by TUDN.
10 years ago, Canelo and Mayweather had their confrontation that marked a before and after in the Mexican boxer’s career.
Mayweather, who handed Canelo the first defeat of his career, surrendered to the Mexican’s great performance after he defeated Charlo 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
Canelo Álvarez dominated the fight from start to finish to defend his undisputed super middleweight title against Jermell Charlo who had no choice but to defend himself against the Aztec’s attacks.
“No one can beat this Canelo, I don’t care (who the rival is). “I’m the best, I didn’t get tired, I was able to fight 12 rounds, I showed who is the best,” Canelo said in statements about the ring.
