Target will close three locations in Oregon City in the coming weeks. This happens at a time when the chain is having problems due to the high rate of thefts.
Oregon has 15 Target stores, and the three that are scheduled to close will do so on October 21.
Target managers said that the workers who are currently in those stores will be able to move to the others that will still remain open.
Earlier in the week, Target had already announced that it will also close six other stores: three in the San Francisco area, two in Seattle and one in New York.
“We know our stores play an important role in their communities, but we can only be successful if the working and shopping environment is safe for everyone,” Target said, according to The Sun.
Previously, Brian Cornell, the store’s CEO, had made statements that theft at the branches was becoming a serious problem for them.
Cornell said: “The issue affects us all, limits product availability, creates a less convenient shopping experience and puts our team and customers at risk.”
The stores scheduled to close are less than 50,000 square feet. That is, they are smaller than a standard Target store.
