scratch-off ticket that only cost him $20 dollars. Now the man plans to use his new fortune to help his loved ones.

The man, named Alfred Law, took home half a million dollars with a ticket from the Cash is King game. The winner purchased his prize ticket at a Glade Hill Minute Market store, located at 7350 Old Franklin Turnpike.

Law said that as he scratched off his $20 scratch-off, he couldn’t keep his composure when he saw that he was now hundreds of thousands of dollars richer.

“I don’t normally jump or scream about anything,” Law said.

The lucky winner claimed his prize at the Virginia Lottery headquarters and told officials that he will use his money to help his family, since he likes to see the people around him happy.

Law’s odds of winning the $500,000 jackpot were just 1 in 612,000.
