With goals from Venezuelan Salomón Rondón and Argentine Enzo Díaz, River Plate won the Argentine soccer Superclásico after beating Boca Juniors by a score of 2-.
In what was a League Cup match, Xeneize will play the honor against Palmeiras next Thursday, in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinals. In that sense, Almirón went out to the match against River with an alternative team.
However, coach Martín Demichelis managed to decipher the local team and led River to win again at La Bombonera, something that had not happened since September 23, 2018, when they won with goals from Gonzalo Montiel and Nacho Scocco.
Although the match was back and forth, the Venezuelan Salomón Rondón was responsible for putting the first goal on the scoreboard for the millionaires with a ball that bounced off him “caromball”. Towards the end of the first half, Enzo Pérez had the time and space to shoot from outside, but the ball ended up hitting the Venezuelan striker and dislocated goalkeeper Chiquito Romero.
Boca was very clear about the tie in the second half, since the Uruguayan Edinson Cavani scored a goal from a bicycle kick that ended up being annulled by a millimeter offside.
Already in the added time of the second half, a great individual play by Esequiel Barco ended as an assist to Colidio, who could not define well but the rebound fell to Enzo Díaz, who was in charge of sealing the match.
