A Florida woman hit the jackpot in the lottery by playing with a scratch-off ticket. Connie Mallette won $1 million dollars, but in the end she was given a smaller sum because of the way she was paid.
Mallette, who is 67 years old and is from the town of Land O’ Lakes, in Paco County, went to the state lottery headquarters to collect the big prize that was won in the game ‘$1,000,000 A Year For Life Spectacular’.
The lucky woman could have pocketed the entire million dollars if she agreed to receive the money in several annual payments.
A second option was for him to accept a single payment of $640,000, which would give him less money, but he would have a larger amount immediately.
Thus, the winner decided to lose $360,000 dollars in order to have the $640,000 at once.
It should be noted that you will still have to pay taxes on that money.
The woman bought the scratch-off ticket at a CJ Marketplace store in her hometown.
The store will receive an extra commission of $2 thousand dollars just for selling the winning ticket.
