Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who a couple of weeks ago suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while making his debut with the New York Jets in the NFL, commented this Tuesday that he hopes his injury serves as inspiration to show that this will not mean the end of his career. and that he was able to overcome it.
In one of the first public talks after the incident, Rodgers said that it will be through willpower and self-improvement that he can move forward.
“I am trying to inspire to see recovery in a different way, I want to inspire many people to see this injury not as a death sentence for my career, which at one time it really was, but to know that with your strength of will, everything is possible,” stressed the 39-year-old player.
Rodgers tore his Achilles in the first quarter of the Week 1 game in which the Jets beat the Buffalo Bills last September 11.
A couple of days after the game it was announced that the four-time NFL MVP would miss the remainder of the 2023 season following the surgery he underwent, a sentence that Rodgers said he will reverse.
“There is nothing normal about how I am approaching rehab. They said I had to stay in an orthopedic boot for six weeks and I walked in sneakers in 13 days. This is my way of thinking, I believe in the power of intention, of prayer, in your state of mind and in the power of your willpower,” she added.
The Super Bowl XLV champion demonstrated it last Sunday when he walked on the grass of MetLife Stadium, home of the Jets, in sneakers, barely supported by a pair of crutches.
Rodgers even took time to ask for the ball to throw a short delivery before his team’s loss to the Chiefs in the game of week 4 of the 2023 season in which he did not rule out reappearing at some point in the season, but being cautious in assuring that it will not be an easy task.
“There are many odds against me, but just because something has never been done doesn’t mean it isn’t possible. I believe in leaving room for the miraculous to happen. It is just another injury that anyone can recover from and come back faster than expected or thought,” she concluded.
