Basketball legend Michael Jordan has been retired from the court for 20 years. However, he continues to generate large amounts of money from his large and intelligent investments since his playing days.

These investments have led him to be in the top positions year after year of the athletes who generate the most money. But recently, the winner of six NBA rings entered a club that no other athlete had achieved before.

Well, this Tuesday Forbes revealed that Jordan became the first athlete to enter the list of the 400 millionaires in the world. With a heritage of $3,000 million dollars.

Jordan spent 16 seasons in the NBA. In this period he was able to amass a fortune of $94 million dollars from his salary as a player. However, Mike’s biggest billing was off the court.

Endorsement deals with big brands like McDonald’s, Gatorade, and Hanes brought the GOAT huge revenues. But without a doubt the jewel in the crown was Nike. Well, the former player with Jordan’s division receives 5% of everything he sells in footwear and clothing.

Jordan also recently closed the sale of the Charlotte Hornets NBA franchise for $3 billion. A great deal for Mike, since in 2010 he bought it for only $275 million dollars.

These intelligent moves by Jordan are what have placed him as one of the athletes who generate the most, and now, a member of the 400 most millionaire people according to Forbes. In fact, Mike, along with LeBron James and Tiger Woods, are the only multimillionaire athletes who exist.

Jordan, with his great fortune, came to occupy position 379 of the 400 millionaires in Forbes magazine and the only one to do so as an athlete. The list is led by Elon Musk with $251 billion. Jeff Bezos follows with $161,000 million and the podium is closed by Larry Ellison with $158,000 million.

Jordan, businessman

Surprisingly Jordan has been successful at almost anything he does. First as a player, because he became without a doubt the best in history. Later in his time as a businessman, he has had multiple successes.

“Michael is one of the few people who has been successful three times,” Washington Wizards owner Ted Leonsis told Forbes. Leonsis also has investments with Jordan and analyzes that: “Many entrepreneurs achieve it once. They get a big win, take their winnings, fold and we never hear from them again, or they try something a second time and it doesn’t work. He’s had three mega hits,” referring to the success Mike has had as a player, owner, and with his Air Jordan brand from Nike.
