German Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool’s technical director, asked the Premier League to repeat the match against Tottenham Hotspur, where a legal goal by Colombian Luis Díaz, forward of the English team, was annulled.
As revealed by the Premier League itself when sharing the VAR audio of the match between Spurs and Liverpool, the referees made a mistake by not awarding the goal to Luis Díaz, after it was disallowed for a non-existent offside.
“They didn’t do it on purpose and we shouldn’t forget that. It was a mistake, an obvious mistake, but I think there should be solutions. I think the match should be repeated, although it probably won’t happen,” Klopp said this Wednesday in a press conference reported by EFE.
The Premier alleged that this decision was a “human error”, after the VAR referee said “full check” without realizing that the goal had been disallowed on the field.
The Premier League and the PGMOL, the league’s referee association, shared this Tuesday the audio of what happened in the VAR room during the disallowed goal against Díaz. Regarding this, Klopp assured that the audio “does not change anything because I was not too interested in why it happened. I saw the result, I saw the goal and I saw that it wasn’t worth it.
However, Klopp assured that he is not upset with the referees: “We shouldn’t go after them. “They made a mistake and I’m sure they felt horrible about it,” Klopp added at the press conference.
