Apparently, there are people who still have fond memories of the popular Blockbuster movie rental chain. And a simple receipt from one of these branches has just been sold for the not inconsiderable amount of $700 dollars.
The receipt was sold through eBay and shows that a customer rented the video game Clayfighter: Sculptor’s Cut, which came out in 1998 and was for the Nintendo 64 console.
The game was exclusive to Blockbuster, meaning it could only be obtained at its branches.
“Keep in mind that it was made in small quantities to begin with and that (the game) was a rental exclusive, meaning that many copies probably didn’t survive the abuse of being rented. Finally, the remaining copies were sold in Blockbuster stores,” said the text accompanying the auction image, as reported in Yahoo.
It is worth noting the reason why the simple invoice for the Blockbuster game reached such a high price, it may be because the actual game can sell for up to $150 thousand dollars on eBay.
“How many people kept their original purchase receipt for this game? Is it worth anything to anyone? Honestly, I have no idea. That is why it is here for auction,” the seller wrote on the eBay page.
“This is truly a piece of video game history and we hope someone can enjoy it by owning it and adding it to their collection,” he added.
