This Sunday in London there will be an NFL game between the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguar. These types of matches outside the borders of the United States are becoming more and more common and seek to globalize American football in the world.
On this occasion, the meeting between both franchises in European territory will be at 2:00 pm local time. This means that for the East Coast of the United States the meeting will be at 9:00am. This will cause a problem, and that is that for NFL games it is very common for fans to gather in bars and restaurants to watch it.
However, New York State has a policy of not selling alcohol on Sundays before 11:00am. Therefore, the meeting points to enjoy the game may not be enabled for the consumption of alcoholic beverages at the time of the game.
Faced with this problem, the governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, has made an exception for the Bills game and will allow bars and restaurants to request special permits for the sale of alcohol on Sunday before the established time.
“With the Buffalo Bills playing across the pond on Sunday morning, I know fans will be gathering for the big game and maybe fancy a pint. “I am ordering the State Liquor Authority to extend the deadline for special permits, so that sports bars and restaurants can serve from 8:00 am,” the highest authority of the state of New York reported in a statement.
The measure was widely taken by various sectors, one of those who spoke in favor was Brian Mazurowski, owner of Big Tree Inn, a popular Bills bar in Orchard Park. “It is a great measure by the governor. It’s going to be a great day for Bills fans and we want to make sure everyone can enjoy it,” commented the owner of the popular sports venue.
The Bills to maintain their winning streak
The Bills began the current NFL season with a loss to the New York Jets, however in the three subsequent games the team has not lost. Victories against the Raiders, Commanders and Dolphins keep the Buffalo team in the lead in the Eastern Division of the American Conference.
Now this Sunday in London, in a multipurpose stadium owned by Tottenham of the Premier League, they will play their fifth game of the year against the Jaguars and in which they hope to continue their good winning streak.
