The topic of retirement can be seen from 2 perspectives. Many may be looking forward to reaching that moment in their lives to stop working and enjoy their days to the fullest, dedicating themselves 100% to themselves and their loved ones; However, it also worries many, especially because you have to save enough to be able to enjoy this moment to the fullest.
Many believe that when they reach retirement, they will surely spend their time traveling and enjoying their hobbies, without having to worry about anything else. And although it seems that this is just a dream, it is really possible.
As an example, we have the case of a retired Australian couple named Marty and Jess Ansen, who have decided to live this last stage by traveling the world and living on cruise ships.
Retirees have been on cruises for more than 500 days
It was from the Covid pandemic that this couple discovered that it was the ideal time to start traveling to different parts of the planet. This has led them to live on the high seas in the last 500 days, as they have completed a total of 51 cruises.
What led them to live this way? Retirees say that life on cruise ships is more economical than entering a nursing home or retirement home.
The retirees embarked more than a year ago aboard the Coral Princess and hope to continue on board for at least 2 more years. “I told my travel agent, ‘Whatever comes, book it,’” Marty said in an interview with A Current Affair.
For this couple, embarking on the cruise has not only meant having a great vacation, but also a great lifestyle, since there are always attractive activities to do on board; In addition, they have all the meals of the day included and can meet more people, who end up becoming close friends.
“Now we no longer have to clean or make the bed,” jokes the couple, who enjoy great popularity on the cruise ship, as the new crew and passengers have heard about them and some guests even ask if they can meet them.
In 8 months, they will finish their adventure on this ship and then change to the Croen Princess, where they hope to spend another year living incredible experiences.
As for their family, they do miss them, but they keep in touch with them and, when possible, dock in ports close to where they live to visit them.
“It’s our lifestyle, a wonderful life,” said the retired couple, who will sail around Hawaii in the coming days.
