Canelo Álvarez’s victory last Saturday against Jermell Charlo allowed the Mexican not only to retain his four world champion belts in the super middleweight category, but also to set his number of victories at 60 in his almost 20-year career.
Furthermore, with this victory, the man from Guadalajara gains ground in the ranking of the best boxers, to get closer to the top he held for a long time a few years ago.
For several months Canelo was planted in fifth place as the best boxer pound for pound, but with the recent update, the magazine The Ring It now positions it in fourth place. Moving up one position in this prestigious ranking.
As for his category, Canelo continues to remain the absolute champion. While the ranking of The Ring It is led by David Benavídez. In second place at 168 pounds is Christian Mbilli, followed by Caleb Plant, David Morrell and John Ryder.

Canelo Álvarez’s next fight
After the victory against Charlo, Álvarez declared that he is in excellent physical condition and that “no one can beat this Canelo.” The Mexican’s next fight is scheduled for May 4, although the rival is still unknown.
A clear candidate for Canelo would be David Benavídez, who is at the same weight as Canelo and it would be a fairly even fight. Another name that is heard is Terence Crawford, and although the current undisputed welterweight champion is 20 pounds below Canelo’s category. He has stated that he has no problem agreeing to an intermediate weight to fight the Mexican.
