A federal judge in Miami sentenced two brothers to 12 years in prison who sold industrial bleach as a supposed miracle cure against covid-19, the federal prosecutor’s office for the Southern District of Florida reported this Friday.

Jonathan Grenon, 37, and Jordan Grenon, 29, were sentenced to 151 months in prison for marketing. While the father, Mark Grenon, 66, and another brother, Joseph Grenon, 36, received 60-month sentences for being part of this operation.

The four, residents of Bradenton, in western Florida, were sentenced after being found last July by a Miami grand jury guilty of fraud “through the distribution of an unapproved and mislabeled medication, and for contempt of court,” as the prosecutor’s office recalled in a statement.

The four members of this family manufactured, promoted and sold a solution that contained sodium chlorite and water, but when ingested it was transformed into chlorine dioxide, a powerful bleach used for water treatment and bleaching textiles and paper pulp.

Sales of the so-called “miraculous mineral solution,” which reached one million dollars, were made through the website of the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing, created by the Grenon family.

The Grenons’ miracle mineral solution was advertised as a cure for 95% of known diseases, including Covid-19, Alzheimer’s, AIDS, autism, multiple sclerosis and brain cancer, according to the indictment.

In 2020, a federal judge in Miami prohibited the Grenons from continuing to sell their product, but the family ignored the order, so the arrest of the father and children was ordered.

Jonathan and Jordan Grenon were arrested in Florida, but Mark and Joseph escaped to Colombia, where they were also later captured and extradited to the United States.
