Major League Soccer (MLS) revealed this Thursday the names of the players who were nominated for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the 2023 United States soccer season; as well as the candidates for nine other categories who will be awarded for their performance on the playing field.

In the list of figures that were included is the presence of the Inter Miami star and current champion of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Lionel Messi, who was barely able to play a few games in the MLS before suffering an injury that kept him away from the championship for the remainder of the year.

Messi is not the only Latin American star that stands out on the list of nominated players, because the Mexicans Héctor Herrera (Houston Dynamo) and Alan Pulido (Sporting Kansas City) are also present.

Other stars on the list are Luciano Acosta (Cincinnati), Thiago Almada (Atlanta United), Sergio Busquets (Inter Miami), Cucho Hernández (Columbus Crew) and Facundo Torres (Orlando City).

Among the other awards are those for Best Goalkeeper with Pedro Gallese, Anre Blake, Roman Bürki, Drake Callender; The nominees for Best Defense include figures such as Jordi Alba, Jonathan Mensah, Shaq Morre, Diego Palacios, Walker Zimmerman and the Mexican Miguel Tapias.
