Inter Miami showed good news through its social networks, this Friday Lionel Messi returned to team training with a view to the clash against FC Cincinnati.
“See you tomorrow,” Inter said in Spanish on its X account (formerly Twitter) along with a photograph of Messi celebrating during a match.
Messi has played just 37 minutes for Miami since Sept. 3 due to physical problems that coach Gerardo Martino says are related to a scar from an old injury on his right leg.
After being beaten 4-1 on the Chicago Fire field on Wednesday, ‘Tata’ Martino said that Messi “is leaving the injury behind” and announced that they would evaluate his possible return to the field this Saturday against FC Cincinnati, the best team in the regular phase of the North American League (MLS).
In need of Messi’s help
After consecration in the Leagues Cup and now with the definition of the US Open Cup, Inter Miami only has the MLS ahead of them.
They are in second-to-last place in the Eastern Conference, five points behind Montreal, 9th (the last place to fight for the playoffs), although with one game less.
Ahead, Las Garzas have this duel against Cincinnati and then a doubleheader against Charlotte, with one home and one away. These nine points are crucial to be able to stay alive in the local competition.
Messi will join the Argentine team for the World Cup qualifying matches against Paraguay on October 12 and Peru on the 17th, just one day before Inter’s penultimate game in the regular phase of the MLS.
