The pregnant model found dead in a luxury apartment in downtown Los Angeles died of “homicidal violence,” the county coroner’s office revealed.
Maleesa Mooney, 31, was discovered dead inside her unit in the 200 block of South Figueroa Street on September 12.
At this time, the circumstances of the death are still unclear.
Initially, the cause was listed as “deferred” or that after the autopsy the cause of death could not be determined.
However, “Cause A” was listed as “homicidal violence,” according to the coroner’s office’s online database. Under “Cause D”, other significant conditions appear.
Mooney’s sister, Jourdin Pauline, told KTLA that the fact that Mooney was so badly beaten made it difficult to establish the exact cause.
Mooney, a model and aspiring real estate agent, was two months pregnant at the time of her death.
Other relatives told the television station that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) investigating the case has not shared much information about the findings. At this time, no arrests have been made.
“Honestly, it’s so stressful,” Pauline described.
“I have thousands and thousands of scenarios in my head of what could have happened to him because we don’t know,” he added.
