This start to Luis Enrique’s season at the head of PSG has not been entirely good, the Spanish strategist is fifth in the French championship and after the Champions League win against Newcastle the criticism for the coach began to fall.

But not only the coach, but both Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé also received beatings from the French press. Faced with this situation, Enrique came to the defense of both footballers.

“It is 100%, the players go through different states. He is neither Superman when he scores eight goals nor a normal player when he doesn’t score. Not everything is black and white, there are nuances. He is a decisive player for us,” commented the Spaniard at a press conference about Mbappé.

While Dembélé also analyzed his performance, since criticism from the press and fans points out the French player’s lack of goals. In eight games the attacker has not been able to score and has only one assist.

“He is really top in everything he does, I am very happy with what he is doing. Your stats will improve. There is no point in putting pressure on the players,” stated the 2015 Champions League champion strategist.

Luis Enrique also admitted the mistakes he made in the win in the Champions League, but made it clear that he liked the team’s attitude and that it will be a matter of time before the idea fits in with the players.

“Football is a game of mistakes, of all of us. We all make mistakes. I have confidence in what I see. I am convinced that we will move forward,” stated the Asturian coach.

“In my career I have lost a few times by a wide margin, but this was a strange game. I liked the attitude of my team. The game ideas must allow us to dominate the game. We want to get titles, I’m not afraid to say it. If we don’t get it, I will be the one to blame,” he said.

PSG’s next match will be this Sunday against Rennes as a visitor for matchday eight of Ligue 1. While in the Champions League they will host Milan on October 25 for the third date of group F of the European competition.
