The Israeli Army has issued a shocking statement in the early hours of the morning, officially declaring a state of war in response to an unprecedented attack from the Gaza Strip. This attack included the launching of rockets and the infiltration of Palestinian militiamen into Israeli territory, which has triggered an emergency situation in the region.

Responsibility of Hamas and “Operation Al Aqsa Storm”

Israel attributes responsibility for this devastating attack to the Islamist group Hamas, a claim confirmed by the Al Qasam Brigades, the armed wing of said group. These brigades have reportedly acknowledged launching more than 5,000 rockets from Gaza into Israel as part of their “Operation Al Aqsa Storm.” This operation marks a significant escalation in the conflict.

Victims and security measures

So far, at least one person has been killed and 15 injured as a result of the attacks, while airstrike alarms continue to sound in northern and southern Israel, including the city of Tel Aviv. In response, Israeli authorities have urged civilians in central and southern areas of the country to seek shelter, while those living near Gaza have been instructed to stay indoors.

Retaliation and mobilization of reservists

Israel has been quick to retaliate, with reports of retaliatory bombings in the Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli blockade since 2007, when Hamas took control of the territory. Additionally, the Army Chief of Staff has been assessing the situation and has approved plans to continue military operations. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has authorized the recruitment of reserve soldiers in the midst of the emergency.

In a video released this morning by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he declared that “We are at war, not in an operation or in rounds, but at war.”

“Citizens of Israel,
We are at war, not in an operation or in rounds, but at war. This morning, Hamas launched a murderous surprise attack against the State of Israel and its citizens. We have been in this since the early morning hours. pic.twitter.com/C7YQUviItR
