The National Republican Council on Saturday blamed US President Joe Biden for allegedly promoting the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel.
In a statement, the committee recalled that almost a month ago the Democrat unfrozen $6 billion for Iran, which he considers the largest state sponsor of terrorism.
This influx of resources, the Republicans claimed, motivated the Iranian regime to finance the Palestinian Islamist group.
“Less than a month ago, Joe Biden unfrozen $6 billion for Iran, the largest state sponsor of terrorism, and now Israel is once again under attack,” they said.
The “delivery” of the money, which was frozen in the allied country South Korea, was made by the Biden government as part of an exchange of five prisoners in mid-September. At the time, the Democratic president received endless criticism, but he claimed humanitarian purposes.
Disgust because Joe Biden gave the money
Republican Senator Rick Scott said this Saturday on
“Every dollar given to Iran funds terrorism in the Ayatollah’s attempt to destroy Israel. “Iran is behind the invasion and everyone must say so while we support our Israeli allies,” said Scott, also former governor of the state of Florida.
Biden government denied it
The US government denied that the money it gave to Iran in September was used for the Hamas attack against Israel.
“Let’s be clear: the deal to bring Americans home from Iran has nothing to do with the horrific attack on Israel,” said US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
The official, who assured that the link is made by the Republican Party to criticize President Biden, said that “not a cent” of those funds has been spent and pointed out that the Iranian regime will only be able to allocate them for humanitarian issues, such as the purchase of food or medicine.
“Anything to the contrary is false,” Miller said.
Hamas put this Saturday at “well over several dozen” the number of Israelis kidnapped in the incursion carried out into Israeli territory. Due to the attacks between both nations, 250 Israeli citizens and 232 Palestinians have died.
