With goals from Ferran Torres and Fermín López, FC Barcelona beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 in the match on the third day of the group stage of the Champions League that was played this Wednesday at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
The first goal came in the 28th minute thanks to Ferran Torres, who found a rebound coming from Fermín that hit the crossbar. Torres made a spectacular volley to leave the goalkeeper Riznyk.
It was the VAR that realized that referee Ivan Kružliak had made a bad decision by immediately annulling the goal due to an alleged forward position by Fermín. After the review, Ferran Torres’ goal was validated and Barcelona took the lead on the scoreboard.
The second Barça goal came in the 36th minute thanks to Fermín López and a great shot into the top corner after receiving an assist from Ferrán Torres.
The Blaugrana showed a solid version of the team throughout the match, but the “tranquility” took its toll in the 62nd minute when Shakhtar scored the added goal.
After receiving a through pass from Kryskiv, striker Sudakov beat Oriol Romeu and scored powerfully at the near post to beat Marc André Ter Stegen and make it 2-1 in the 61st minute.
However, this goal was enough for Xavi Hernández’s team to besiege the Ukrainian team’s goal in the final minutes with attacks from Fermín, Marc Guiu and Lamine Yamal.
Barça thus achieved a hard-fought victory against Shakhtar Donetsk to maintain the total number of victories in the group stage of the Champions League, finishing first in group H.
