The New York Yankees have already begun working towards the next Major League season and among their first moves we have that they will no longer have Sea Casey as their hitting coach due to family matters, according to the coach himself in his podcast ‘The Mayor’s Office’.
As Casey explained, the decision not to return to the Yankees was his and it is because he wants to be with his daughters more since, after divorcing a few years ago, he has been forced to reduce his time with them and his campaign trips. make this objective difficult.
“I simply told him [a Aaron Boone] that I will not be able to return next year (…) I am with my daughters at home (13 and 17 years old). After a divorce a few years ago, I am with my daughters 50% of the time. So I can’t imagine being away for eight months in New York while they are here in Pittsburgh,” she commented.
The coach revealed that he had begun talks with the manager to return as hitting coach in 2024, however, he had not yet received a formal offer from the Yankees.
It should be remembered that Sean Casey arrived at the New York team in the middle of last season to replace Dillon Lawson, who was fired after the players’ poor offensive performance. Prior to this, he served as an analyst for MLB Network.
In 71 games after Casey joined advisors Casey Dykes and Brad Wilkerson, the Yankees hit .221/.307/.381 (.688 OPS), compared to a .231/.301/.410 offensive line ( .711 OPS) under Lawson.
Now, the Bronx Bomber is considering the options of its former players Tino Martínez and Nick Swisher, so that one of them can take the position of hitting coach of the team for 2024.
